In 2021, the economy of China has rebounded from slowdowns because of the ongoing pandemic. The million-dollar question is, has this economic rebound resulted in more air pollution in major cities of China. In this article, we will get an answer to this question. Read on to find out more.

Unlike the first six months of 2020, the level in 10 big cities of China came down by 2.5%. And this figure is quite impressive because fewer cars were allowed on the road due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the overall lower levels of pollution, 60% of the cities experienced a little bit of increase in air pollution in comparison to last year. Some of these cities include Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Wuhan, Beijing, and Chengdu, just to name a few.

Some cities that experienced improved air quality are Shanghai, Shenyang, Tianjin, and Xi’an. Apart from this, all of the major cities in China were beyond the maximum limit of 10 μg/m3. Also, the average reading of 39 µg/m3 is about 4 times the allowed limit.

PM10 Pollution Level

Compared to 2020, the levels of PM2.5 pollution have increased significantly. According to statistics, about 90% of cities that were analyzed were found to have an increased level of PM10 pollution. On the other hand, Shenyang is the only city that experienced a reduction of 5.7% in the level of PM10 pollution.

In China, the northern cities had a lot of sandstorms in March 2021. These storms increased the level of PM10 pollution, which is why the concentration level was too high.

Ozone Levels Decreased in 80% of Cities

Long-term exposure to ozone may cause your eyes and throat to become irritated. The ozone level was high during the first six months of 2021. About 80% of cities experienced a reduction in the level of this invisible gas compared to last year. Only two cities called Guangzhou and Shenzhen had a high level of these pollutants.

How to Deal with the High Level of Pollution

Although there are many ways to deal with air pollution, an easy way out is to install a good air purifier. These units are quite simple but offer a lot of benefits. If you go for a small unit to achieve this purpose, you can install it in your rooms for easy purification of the air.

Regular use of these units can help bring the pollution level down. This solution provides the only way to ensure you and your family are not exposed to the harmful effects of these hair particles.

Long story short, if you are looking for a way to purify your indoor air, we suggest that you go for an air purifier that is powered by HEPA air filters. These filters are one of the best in the market for a number of reasons. They are known to filter up to 99.99% of pollutants found in the air.
